Dunton & Broughton Flames 1 - 1 Huncote Greens
On a cold and windy November morning the Flames started the game well dominating play from early on despite playing into a fairly strong wind. The conditions meant the game was scrappy and physical at times but the Flames competed well and dominated the first half. After 10 minutes, and straight from a Flames goal kick, Huncote volleyed the ball from the half-way line right into the top corner of the goal to take a 1-0 lead against the run of play.
The Flames came out for the second half confident, with the wind behind them, that they could get back into the game. Luke Weskamp dominated the midfield possession winning the ball for the Flames and getting it forward as the Flames created chance after chance. Jack Matthews and Peter Underhill linked together well in midfield breaking down Huncote's attacks and passing the ball forward to Luke Elson who pushed forward trying to get the Flames back into the match. His excellent performance in the game was rewarded when 10 minutes into the second half he took control of the ball and smashed it into the back of the net to make the match 1-1. The Flames created several more chances in the half as they tried to secure their first win and almost took all 3 points as Luke Weskamp tried to lob the Huncote keeper in the dying minutes of the game.
Jack Matthews was named Man of the Match.
